Trade shows like PV EXPO (the International Photovoltaic Power Generation Expo, or 太陽光発電展) are always a highlight for us at SR Solar. Back in March 2022, we headed to Tokyo Big Sight for the three-day event (March 16–18), and honestly, it turned out to be one of our strongest outings yet.

Japan’s push toward renewables was really front and center at the time—the country had set clear goals to reach 36–38% renewables in its power mix by 2030, with solar playing a major role. That created exactly the kind of environment where serious conversations happen, and our team was right in the middle of it.
We set up in the main hall and welcomed well over 500 visitors from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Project developers, EPC firms, distributors, and even some government folks stopped by. Everyone was looking for mounting solutions that could handle Japan’s unique challenges—typhoon winds, heavy snow loads, tight land constraints, you name it.
What really drew people in were our core offerings:
- Ground-mounted systems built tough for utility-scale projects, with adjustable tilts and materials rated for extreme weather.
- Rooftop solutions designed for fast, low-disruption installs—perfect for commercial and industrial clients who want solar without halting operations.
- Carport solar mounts, which drew strong interest as Japan looks for smart ways to combine parking facilities with renewable energy generation on existing paved surfaces.
We had interactive demos, live models, and plenty of technical deep dives. Visitors could see exactly how our designs boost energy yield while keeping long-term costs in check.

The real win came from the connections we made. Our engineers and sales team held more than 100 focused meetings, talking through project specs and custom needs. By the end of the show, we’d locked in preliminary distribution agreements with three solid Japanese partners, generated strong leads from over 200 serious prospects (mostly B2B players eyeing multi-MW installations), and got great feedback on our engineering and compliance with local standards like JIS and IEC.
One developer summed it up nicely: “Your mounts feel engineered with real-world conditions in mind—reliable and adaptable.” That kind of comment makes the long days at the booth worth it.
Looking back, PV EXPO 2022 was a genuine step forward for SR Solar in the Japanese market and across the region. It reminded us why we love this industry—helping businesses build smarter, more sustainable energy infrastructure.
If solar mounting is on your radar for upcoming projects, we’d be happy to chat. Drop us a line at [email protected] or check out our site. Let’s talk about how we can support what you’re building next.
