Trade shows in the solar industry are always a solid chance to connect, and the PV EXPO 太陽光発電展 (International Photovoltaic Power Generation Expo) in November 2022 was one we really looked forward to. We set up at INTEX Osaka from November 16-18 (the autumn edition), and it turned out to be another strong showing for the team—full of good conversations and real business momentum.
Osaka’s location in western Japan draws a different crowd compared to the Tokyo events, often with more regional developers, commercial players, and installers focused on practical, scalable solutions. With Japan’s ongoing drive toward carbon neutrality and expanding solar adoption, the energy at the show was high—people were actively seeking reliable mounting partners to support growing project pipelines.
Our booth saw steady traffic—over 450 visitors across the three days—from EPC firms, project developers, distributors, commercial building owners, and utility-linked groups mostly from Japan, but with some Asia-Pacific reach too. The focus was on systems that deliver in Japan’s real-world conditions: typhoons, seismic considerations, heavy rain, and smart use of limited or already-developed space.
We spotlighted our main lineup, with hands-on demos and technical chats that let visitors see the details:
- Ground mounting systems — built sturdy for utility-scale and large commercial farms, with adjustable designs, strong wind/snow resistance, and easy terrain adaptation.
- Roof mounting systems — engineered for fast, low-impact installs on industrial rooftops, warehouses, and commercial buildings—minimizing downtime and maximizing roof space efficiency.
- Carport mounting systems — which sparked a lot of interest as Japan seeks efficient ways to turn parking lots and open paved areas into dual-purpose solar generation sites.
- BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics) solutions — gaining traction for seamless integration into building facades, roofs, and structures, blending energy production with modern architecture.
We had models, simulations, and our engineers on hand to walk through how these systems boost energy output, cut long-term costs, and meet key standards like JIS and IEC while handling Japan’s unique environmental demands.
The best part? The one-on-one discussions. We held more than 90 focused meetings, digging into specific project needs and offering tailored input. By the end, we’d lined up promising talks with a few key regional distributors, gathered high-quality leads from about 180 serious B2B prospects (many eyeing mid-to-large scale arrays), and got solid positive feedback on our product’s reliability and ease of deployment.
One developer we spoke with said it nicely: “Your systems feel practical and well-thought-out for the challenges we actually face—durable without unnecessary complexity.” That kind of response keeps us motivated.
Overall, PV EXPO Osaka 2022 at INTEX Osaka was a clear success for SR Solar. It helped us build stronger ties in the Kansai region and beyond, right when the market was eager for dependable mounting solutions.
